Smirnoff Paintfest!

Smirnoff recently booked MTFX to come up with a system to safely fire jets of paint at a group of dancers on an open air dance floor on Tower Bridge in London as part of a recent publicity stunt.

The group of 40 dancers arrived and were dressed up in white overalls and were all equipped with a pair of safety goggles and as they danced MTFX fired 10 cannons containing a variety of paint colours at the dancers as required.

Since this event the system has evolved so that 18 paint jets could be built in to a portable booth and toured around a variety of night clubs throughout the UK!

The system was developed with safety as the primary factor, with each cannon being independently positioned and each with its own adjustable pressure to ensure that the cannons were able to fire accurately and at a pressure where the paint would hit the dancers effectively, but without excessive force.

Lightning strikes Thi3teen ride at Alton Towers

The team at MTFX was very excited at the prospect of installing a series of air effects and a large Tesla coil at Alton Towers for the exciting new ride, Thi3teen.

The air effects are used to scare the ride users as they plunge down into the abyss. The air effects were custom made with precision control to allow the effect to be accurately repeated each time.

The Tesla coil, positioned inside a Faraday Cage within the queue area for the ride, will emit a lightning bolt 1 metre in length. It has also been installed with a custom made controller to allow it to fire the effect for 5 seconds every minute in complete safety.

As with all of MTFX effects, they have been designed for an extremely high duty cycle and will be working continuously for years to come.

Portable water tanks for TV/film shoots

MTFX is now able to provide water tanks in custom sizes for most TV/film applications.

As the tanks are made up of 1m x 1m panels they are incredibly flexible and portable and can therefore be built to most size requirements. They were used most recently at the Imagist studios in Bristol to provide a 3m x 3m tank with a waterfall attachment for the pilot for a children’s show.

We also carry in stock a range of water heaters to warm the water before actors enter the tank!

MTFX invests in new stadium shot cannons

MTFX has recently invested in the most powerful confetti cannons available – the new stadium shot confetti cannons!

These cannons give a spectacular burst of confetti or streamers, providing their "shot" via a compressed air accumulator tank pressurized to 8 bar. This means they can fire confetti to 35 metres and streamers to an amazing 50 metres!!

Each cannon is flight cased to allow easy transportation and to enable them to be easily positioned for use and with 12 cannons in their hire stock you can be sure they will have enough cannons for even the largest of venues.
